The Urban Botanist

Hi! Hope everyone is having a wonderful bank holiday weekend. Just thought I would stop by and show you my gorgeous terrarium from the wonderful The Urban Botanist. I was first introduced to terrariums at the #opengreenhouse event - I can't believe I didn't know about them before! A terrarium is like a mini garden - or put simply an aquarium for plants instead of fish! They're such a fantastic way to have plants in your home, I knew as soon as I saw them that I would love to have some in my home. If you read interiors mags it would seem that houseplants seem to be having a real moment, (although how can plants ever really be out of fashion?!) but I really feel that these terrariums have a real style longevity about them.DSC_0185Here is the beautiful terrarium that their lovely MD Lucy Serafi showed me how to assemble. From their skyline collection I adore the peace and tranquility this gives to my generally busy chaotic kitchen! And doesn't it look great against the stripes?! The simple hanging sphere is just the perfect house for this little mini garden. This was a DIY kit, which I loved, as I always like having a personal element to things in my home. This is actually the most practical plant for me also, I am prone to the occasional plant killing (!) as because the plant inside is airborne, all you need to do is put the plant in a little water every few days or so - perfect! My girls were also really interested in it which I love, which leads me onto their Baby Botanist range. Such a fantastic way to get kids into indoor gardening, and a perfect gift. I know a few little who may be getting these as presents soon...babybotanist-bulbous-582x582I was also pretty taken with this teardrop shape beauty - they're just so satisfying to look at aren't they. I love the miniature precious quality they have and can't wait to get a couple more to have round the house.
