My friend bought me this novel about a year ago now whilst I was still on my floristry course & needless to say, I fell completely in love with it! - and managed to read it in just 3 days (extremely quick for a slow reader like me!). The novel focuses around the lost Victoria who has grown up in a bleak foster care system all her life & finds that the only means of expressing her true emotions are through the Victorian Language of Flowers.

I won't spoil the book too much, but when Victoria finds herself on the streets at the age of eighteen she decides to plant a small garden of her own in the park to cherish & nurture the only things which remain constant & real in her life. She then gets spotted by a local florist & embarks upon helping others through the meanings of the flowers she chooses for them. This is not a girly, chick lit novel - at times it is harsh & uncomfortable to read but more than worth it in the end!
I love the cover of this book & the idea of expressing yourself through flowers alone... It's just so romantic! Unfortunately many of my favourite flowers I love have not quite so sweet meanings but then as the novel explains, there is always more than one interpretation! This got me thinking - if you had describe yourself as one flower what would it be?! I think I would like to be a daisy - a wild, rustic & unassuming flower - it's Victorian meaning being Innocence!
