When it comes to getting flowers online, I very often think the choice is really limited, and I can't stand those boring stiff set structured bouquets which seem to be in abundance. So I was thrilled when I was contacted by
The Great British Florist - one glance at their website and you can see that their flowers really are different, beautiful, organic, wild and sometimes vintage inspired, looks wise they definitely tick every box for us. But the really exciting thing about all the flowers from the Great British Florist is that they are all grown here in Britain - 'Grown not Flown'. Here's a few snippets from their website:'All our flowers are proudly sown and grown on British Farms, and this means that very often our flowers are much, much, fresher than their foreign competitors. They will often be picked conditioned and with you within 48 hours, meaning you can expect them to last days longer in the vase. It does mean that some of them are grown in tunnels, but our zero air-miles and straight forward delivery means that our carbon emissions are minimal.'Simple, Green, Sustainable. We love their ethos, it's such a shame that this isn't the norm. Let's get buying British!I was sent the
Mother's Day Pastel Bouquet to review. Firstly the size of the bouquet is very generous - in fact I actually didn't have a vase big enough to fit the bouquet in (this matter obviously needs to be rectified!). The colours are delicate shades of pink, peach and lilac and beautiful soft yellows, perfectly spring like. Here is the bouquet just minutes after being delivered:
It really is beautiful - I love the slightly wild unset look of it, and the flowers are such a lovely selection of unusual blooms, I adored the ranunculus, tulips and tiny narcissus. As I didn't have one large vase I managed to fill 1 jug, 1 vase and several mini arrangements, which has meant the gorgeous bouquet has pretty much filled our house with its loveliness! Oh and the smell! They really smell amazing! The website promises the flowers will last for 7 days at least - I've now had mine 7 days and they're still going strong. Here are a few further snaps of the flowers.
I have to say I absolutely love mini flower arrangements and love how the narcissus look in my Fentiman's rose lemonade bottle and
Chive Pooley vase.
I really think that this bouquet is really good value for money, and would be fantastic as a Mother's Day gift. The flowers are wonderfully unusual as well as lasting well. We love some of the other items on their website too, like the
posies and
British bouquets. We love this little quote from their website:'By buying British Flowers, not only are you sending something beautiful and lovely, you are supporting British Wildlife and biodiversity at the same time. A very lovely win, win.'As a mother myself I'd be pretty happy to receive this bouquet come Mothering Sunday!
Disclosure: The Great British Florist kindly sent us the Mother's Day bouquet to review, but all thoughts and words are our own.
