A couple of weeks ago we finally said goodbye to our beloved preschool and to having a child at home most of the time. Of course, because of the summer holidays not much has changed yet, but it's still been a hugely emotional time. It sounds dramatic writing it down, but I really feel like we've all felt the change and emotions in different ways.

I'm sure it can't just be me that finds a nicely wrapped present an absolute joy - Tiffany's perfectly turquoise boxes with silky white ribbon come to mind, aswell as cosy old Christmas films with piles of lavishly wrapped gifts.

Anyone who knows me will know how much I adore Ikea, you'd be hard pushed to find an area in our home that doesn't house their happy colourful wares. Even the girls do too and it's become a bit of a family day trip if we go there - the hotdogs and ice creams at the end might have a little to do with it also! I love the affordability, functionality, their ethical ethos and more importantly the classic scandinavian design.

Block printing is one of my favourite types of printing, possibly the easiest and cheapest - I love how so many everyday objects make the most interesting of stamps and motifs. You can easily do it at a moments notice as they'll always something you can use.

I think I've mentioned before that I'm making my sister's wedding cake for her wedding in October, I've been furiously pinning away (you can check out my board here), but sometimes having an actual thing to hold, read and inspire is just the thing and 'The Handmade Wedding Cake' by Natasha Collins is just the thing.

In the last couple of years various blogs have celebrated May Day by making May Day posies to give out on the day (I think I was first inspired by Seeds and Stitches and the Little Greenshed). We've done it for the last couple of years and it's such a beautiful way to celebrate the time of year, and a lovely way to get childten making and thinking about the seasons.
